Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the generation mechanism of torque ripples in induction motors by using theoretical expression of torque ripples and electromagnetic field analysis, to obtain useful information of motor designs. It is revealed that the torque ripple generation mechanism of induction motors is quite different from that of synchronous motors. The proper stator/rotor slot combinations to reduce the torque ripple is also clarified.
