FLANAGAN USCG The author graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in 1955 and served three years aboard the Coast Guard Cutter MACKINAC operating in the North Atlantic. He completed engineering training aboard the MACKINAC qualifying him to serve as an engineering officer. He served as Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard Loran Station in Pusan, Korea. He was recently engaged in study at MIT in Cambridge, Mass., in the Marine Engineering department.
