Naval Engineers JournalVolume 86, Issue 1 p. 77-83 ATTACKING VOLTAGE FLUCTUATIONS WITH SOLID STATE ELECTRONICS CDR. DAVID B. FLANAGAN USCG, CDR. DAVID B. FLANAGAN USCG The author graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1955 and served three years aboard USCGC Mackinac as Navigator, Operations Officer, Damage Control Assistant, and student Engineer. After a 13 months tour as Commanding Officer, USCG Loran Station, Pusan, Korea, he entered Massachusetts Institute of Technology from which he received his Professional degree as Naval Engineer and his Masters degree in Marine Engineering in 1962. He then served as Engineer Officer, USCGC Eastwind, participating in Operation Deep Freeze for two years after which he was assigned to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1964 where he taught various engineering subjects until completing his tour as Chief of the Electrical Engineering Section. He was next assigned to U.S.C.G. Headquarters in 1968 as Project Officer on the design of a high endurance oceanographic ship, and subsequently as Chief of the High Endurance Cutter Section in the Shipbuilding and Maintenance Branch. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Connecticut, and at present is the Chief of the Naval Engineer-Branch, ELEVENTH Coast Guard District, Long Beach, California.Search for more papers by this author CDR.
