Abstract

This systematic review aims to evaluate the results reported in the literature regarding the success rate of both titanium mesh technique and dental implant. The topic was focused on the presence of the titanium meshes used as a physical barrier for ridge reconstruction in partial or total edentulism. The authors conducted an electronic search of four databases up to October 2023. A total of 6 articles fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. A total of 100 titanium mesh were studied for a minimum of 4.6 months follow-up surgery and a total of 241 implants were placed. The review showed how the use of titanium mesh represented a predictable method for the rehabilitation of complex atrophic sites. Further investigations generating long term data are needed to confirm these findings.
