Abstract
This paper provides original diagnoses of the genera Albertathyas gen. nov., Columbiathyas gen. nov. and Siskiyouthyas gen. nov. which are proposed to accommodate the newly described species Albertathyas montana sp. nov. from mountain streams in Alberta, Montana, Oregon and Wyoming, Columbiathyas crenicola sp. nov. from montane springs in British Columbia, Washington and Oregon and Siskiyouthyas rivularis sp. nov. from small cascades in coastal Oregon and California, respectively. Original illustrations of the palearctic species Vietsia scutata (Protz) are provided as the basis for an expanded diagnosis of Vietsia Lundblad to permit clear separation of Siskiyouthyas from this genus.
