Abstract
Three new genera and species of water mites (Acari: Hygrobatidae) collected in South Africa are described. These are Sterkspruitia ovalis n. gen., n. sp.; Homtinibates lootsi n. gen., n. sp.; and Knysnabates theroni n. gen., n. sp. The latter two species are part of the unique water mite fauna of the deeply stained coastal streams of southeastern Eastern Cape Province.
