Abstract
Thermostimulated exoelectron emission (TSEE) from different oxide single crystals, such as Al2O3, TiO2 and ZnO, is described. After X-ray excitation in ultra high vacuum (UHV) at room temperature, the crystals were warmed through a linear process. The influence of the storage time in UHV along with the pretreatment of specimens in pure dry oxygen and oxygen saturated with water vapor was observed. The reproducibility of the intensity of the TSEE peaks of Al2O3, TiO2 in an UHV was very good. The influence of adsorption species was very low and the surfaces recovered after a certain digestion time. This did not seem to be the case for ZnO single crystals.
