Abstract

Polypyrrole-Single Walled Carbon Nanotube (PPY-SWCNT) composite havebeen synthesized by a simple in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization methodwith enhanced thermoelectric properties compared to pure PPY. XRD and FESEM analyses reveal thatduring polymerization, PPY grew along thesurface of the SWCNTs to form a more ordered molecular structure with increased crystallinity. Thethermoelectric properties of PPY and PPY-SWCNT composite were examinedinthe temperature range of 298-408 K. The thermal conductivity ofthe composite shows no significant change compared to pure PPY. As a result, the thermoelectricfigure of merit ZT (0.0021)increases with the incorporation of SWCNT in the composite which is about 55 times higher than pure PPY(0.00004).
