Abstract
Thermodynamics and kinetics of switching in uniaxial ferroelastics-ferroelectrics at the initial stage in an external electric field and under mechanical stress are investigated on the basis of the classical nucleation theory. It is shown that during switching of uniaxial ferroelastics-ferroelectrics the superposition of an electric field and mechanical stress play a role of supersaturation or supercooling for any phase transitions. An expression for the relation of a critical domain size to a switching field is obtained. The stationary flux of polarized and deformed nuclei is determined in the size space. The time of setting and existence of a stationary flux of switching nuclei is estimated.
