Abstract

The processes of uniaxial tension and compression of polyethylene subjected to drawing in heptane, which has a plasticizing action, are studied by deformational calorimetry. On the basis of the relations obtained for the work done, the thermal effect, and the changes in internal energy as a function of elongation, a thermodynamic analysis of the deformation process is presented.
