Abstract

Abstract The stability constants (log K ) of the complexes formed between Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy and Ho and monothiodibenzoylmethane (HSDBM) have been determined pH metrically at temperatures 30, 35 and 40°C at constant 0.05 M NaClO 4 ionic strength. The effect of variation of ionic strength was studied by taking three ionic strengths 0.05 M, 0.075 M and 0.100 M NaClO 4 at 30°C. The thermodynamic stability constants were determined by extrapolating log K vs μ plot at μ = 0. The other thermodynamic functions were calculated from temperature stability constant plot. The values were refined by least square method.
