Abstract

AbstractThermocouple psychrometer probe, constructed by mounting a group of thermocouple units, embedded in a Teflon casing with perforations to facilitate quick vapour equilibrium, is described. The probe can be conveniently inserted through an access tube installed in situ thereby permitting the measurements of soil water potential at a number of sites, with the same units. The design also facilitates the periodical maintenance of the measuring units, essential for its efficient use. Further the perforated Teflon sheath containing sensor, enhances thermal and vapour equilibrium and thus permits repeated measurements at a number of locations.
