Abstract

The experimentally observed structure in the blue emission of PbWO 4 crystals is analyzed theoretically. The full interaction Hamiltonian, including ligand field, Jahn-Teller, pseudo Jahn-Teller, and spin-orbit interactions is considered. The emission-band shape is numerically calculated using Monte-Carlo integration using both semiclassical and quantum-mechanical approaches. Theoretical results are qualitatively compared to experimentally observed spectra.
