Abstract

Gasifiers have versatile usage ranging from the production of hydrogen, ammonia, and other value-added products as well as in electricity production from syngas. In the present study, two different biomass varieties (Paddy and wheat straw) with different physicochemical properties were used. Fortran subroutines were also included in the present conceptual process design to generalize the model to be extended to more than two biomass varieties if needed. After sensitivity analysis, it was observed that a temperature of 700 °C and a 0.20 equivalence ratio is suitable for gasification operations to maximize the (Lower Heating Value) of the product stream.
