Abstract
As in previous years, the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) Inspire, Develop, Empower, Advance (IDEA) Committee spent much of the spring getting prepared to host some exciting events at the International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS). This year was no different, although uncertainty hung in the air as we awaited decisions on whether the largest annual GRSS event would be a hybrid or virtual one. Alas, the COVID-19 Delta variant swept across the globe in what was for many the fifth or sixth wave of coronavirus cases in the global pandemic, and IGARSS moved to all virtual.
