Abstract

Walkability reflects the overall support for pedestrian travel in an area. As for the walkability survey on Lishan Road, the audit instrument is designed based on the PEDS which put forward by Maryland University. This paper modifies and presents a standardized audit tool for use in Chinese road, of which content is more comprehensive and can be applied to most kinds of roads. Based on the pedestrian environment data of Lishan Road, the Kappa and percent of agreement are calculated to test the reliability of survey results by use of Minitab 14.0. Finally, the outcome is used to assess the safety, amenity, accessibility, aesthetic and convenience of pedestrian environment on Lishan Road.
