Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the experience of using the educational ideas of The Epic of Manas with the goal of improving the content of pedagogical disciplines of universities. The issues on developing meaningful borders of such certain topics like teaching as a profession; initiation and progression of pedagogics as a science; purpose, content and methods of education were analyzed within the frames of The Epic of Manas. The selection of certain fragments of the epic, in the context of preparing future instructors to pedagogical work, was made in accordance with principles like professional focus, scientific quality, representativeness, potential of forming ideals, historical and socio-cultural context. The results of the experiment showed that the enrichment of the content of the above-mentioned disciplines through the values of The Epic of Manas improves not only the ethno-pedagogical competence of future teachers, but also significantly increases the value of the course as an academic discipline.
