Abstract
The current review article provides information on the leaf blotch disease of common and other species of horse chestnut trees (Aesculus spp.), its geographic distribution, economic significance, symptoms, disease cycle, and taxonomy and nomenclature of the causal agent, Phyllosticta sphaeropsoidea, macro- and micro-morphologic characteristics of its anamorph and teleomorph stages, and criteria for identification of this fungus as well as management of the disease.
