Abstract
The substances whose actions are described here are analogues of compounds already investigated (Browning, Cohen, Ellingworth and Gulbransen). The method used in testing for trypanocidal action was that previously detailed. Mice 24 hours after inoculation with T. brucei , when scanty parasites were present in the blood, received a subcutaneous injection of a solution of the drug. The results are shown in the table. Animals infected with the strain of parasites employed were cured by the active styryl quinoline compounds Nos. 8 and 90, in the doses previously stated. Anil quinolines .—Nos. 352, 353, 350, 351, 358 and 360, like their analogue 2( p -dimethylamino anil)-6 acetylamino quinoline methochloride (No. 59) already examined, manifested only a slight to marked trypanocidal action when doses approaching the maximum tolerated by the animals were used.
