Abstract

The total tidal torque within the Solar System has been estimated as 1.5 · 1017 Joule. The main contributors are the systems Jupiter-Io, Earth-Moon, Sun-Venus, Sun-Earth, Neptune-Triton, Saturn-Titan, Jupiter-Ganymede, Jupiter Europa. The tidal torques do not contribute to the Earth’s precession — nutation torque being perpendicular to the last.
