Abstract
We tested the time resolution of “small” scintillation counters (0.8 (height) × 2.6 (width) cm 2 and 0.7 (height) × 2.1 (width) cm 2, with 1.0 cm thickness) and of a “large” counter (21 (height) × 96 (width) cm 2 with 2 cm thickness). The time walk correction using software (off-line) was compared with that using hardware (constant fraction discriminator). It was found that the two methods gave nearly equal time resolution. Intrinsic time resolutions of 155 and 370 ps fwhm were obtained for the small and the large counters, respectively.
