Abstract
Thermal and optical properties of europium ions doped fluorogallate glasses, 20GaF3–15InF3–20CdF2–15ZnF2–(20−x)PbF2–10SnF2–xEuF3 (xEu–GICZPS), are studied and the Judd–Oflet (J–O) intensity parameters Ωλ are calculated by different means. The results indicate that the Eu–GICZPS glass has the best stability when molar fraction 1.0% EuF3 was added in glass; the site symmetry of the ligand field at Eu3+ is higher and covalence of GICZPS glasses is lower than oxide glasses. Compared with the experimental and calculated lifetime of Eu3+5D0 level, the J–O intensity parameters Ωλ obtained from emission spectrum are more reliable than other approaches.
