Abstract

A doubly symmetric butt strap joint in unidirectional carbon fibre-reinforced plastics under tensile load was analysed using the finite element force method. The stress and strain distribution for loads up to the failure load were obtained. This necessitated the inclusion of the elastic properties of the carbon fibre-reinforced plastics and the elastic-plastic properties of the adhesive.
