Abstract

Introduction: The objectives of the present study were to comparative analyse between instruction before competition and instruction during competition, about their expectations (cognitive variable) and the instruction behaviour (behavioural vari- able) of the soccer coach. Materials and Methods: Twelve situations of instruction before competition and twelve situations of competition were analysed. Six soccer coaches were observed (two sessions each) in male senior step on 2 nd B Portuguese League. The instruments used to collect data were: the Questionnaire of Instruction Expectations in Competition (QIEC) to estimate cognitive variable - Expectations; and the Information Analyse in Competition System (IACS) to estimate behavioural variable - Instruction. Results: Concerning the comparative analysis, we can conclude that soccer coaches expressed a signifi cantly consistency between instruction before competition and instruction during competition, regarding expectations and instruction behaviour.
