The single crystal electron spin resonance properties of [Cu(acetate) 2pyridine] 2 and [Cu(acetate) 2quinoline] 2

Abstract

The single crystal ESR spectra of the title compounds have been measured at85°K and at Q-band frequencies. With the aid of published crystallographic data the following spin Hamiltonian parameters were deduced: pyridine adduct g z = 2·362, g x = 2·065, g y = 2·070, D = 0·340 cm −1 and E ≤ 0·003 cm −1; quinoline adduct g z = 2·065 g x = 2·067, g y = 2·070, D = 0·348 cm −1 and E ≤ 0·001 cm −1. These parameters and the diffuse reflectance spectra of the above compounds are compared with the available data for [Cu(acetate) 2H 2O] 2.
