Abstract

The discrete-event simulation language SIMIAN is described along with its environmental supports. Some well-known problems when using simulation to create an effective decision-support system within an integrated production planning system are characterised together with detailed explanation of how these problems are overcome in the SIMIAN environment. An example is considered in some detail.
