Abstract
Urinary incontinence (UI) is a common problem whose prevalence increases in the post reproductive phase. It can have a significant impact on a woman’s quality of life, her overall well-being and her ability to function normally. The two commonest types of UI are overactive bladder (OAB) and stress incontinence (SUI). The treatment will depend on the underlying pathophysiology but all treatment pathways include a variety of potential interventions such as Pelvic Floor Muscle training. Underpinning all this is the impact of urogenital atrophy which results in changes to the integrity and function of vaginal and urogenital structures and also to the vaginal and urogenital microbiome. This talk focuses on the role of MHT in urinary incontinence.
