THE REFLECTION OF THE EPOCH’S ARTISTIC IMAGE IN AN ARTIST’S BIOGRAPHY

Abstract

The article reveals the «image» and «artistic image» definitions and suggests the author’s interpretation of the «epoch’s artistic image» notion. The ways of depicting different eras’ chronology within the master’s biography have been analysed. Biography was confirmed to illustrate the epoch’s portrayal interpreting the being and the master’s creativity heritage. The objective of the publication is to throw light on the essence of the epoch’s artistic image and to reveal the specifics of its presentation through the prism of an artist’s biography. The methodology of studying the problematic field was defined by the following approaches: culture studies, i.e. considering the interaction of social and mental phenomena of a certain historical period; biographical, i.e. being aware of the creative personality existence; comparative, i.e. comparing the chronologies of various centuries; analytical, i.e. obtaining the grasp of the research issue references; theoretical generalisation, i.e. drawing the research conclusions. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that for the first time ever the specifics of implementing the epoch’s artistic image through the master’s chronicles were revealed in national arts studies. Conclusions. The epoch’s artistic image is a specific form of mental reflection of the reality given within the aspect of the key philosophical concepts functioning, as well as dominating ideals, homo sapiens heritage; sociological, psychological and other parametres. It reflects creative approach to civilisation processes and the personality being their active participant. The key time tendencies are reflected via creativity of the masters having accumulated its outlook postulates through their autonomous practice and having contributed to the establishment of background criteria. Biography illustrates the era by investigating the individual’s being. It appeals to credible facts, data, documental sources, poetic opuses represented in their verbal form. The master’s biography is a science report on the unique personality’s life. The explication of their fate is accomplished in the background of socio-political situation of the century. The genre demonstrates progressive philanthropic doctrines presented by the creative personality’s attainment. The latter defines the existence of mentality, updates the issue of artistic memory, preserves and multiplies the human heritage. The epoch’s artistic image implemented due to the significant profiles’ chronicles is a complicated process of cultural and intentional formations expressing a certain epoch’s macrocosm through the subjective microcosm.
