Abstract

Hydridopentacarbonylrhenium reacts with the monodentate phosphorus-containing ligands (L), triphenylphosphine, triethylphosphine and triphenylphosphite, to yield monosubstituted complexes of the type cis-Re(CO) 4(L)H. Under a variety of reaction conditions, these complexes yield the trans disubstituted isomers Re(CO) 3(L) 2H, except where L = triphenylphosphite when a substituted metal carbonyl is obtained. The bidentate ligands, 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (DPE) and 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)methane (DPM), yield the complexes cis-Re(CO) 3(DPE)H and cis-Re(CO) 3(DPM)H, respectively. The potentially tridentate ligand, 1,1,1-tris(diphenylphosphinomethyl)ethane (DPME), yields cis-Re(CO) 3(DPME)H.
