The prospective random-contrasted clinical research of the effect of Xuebijing injection on adrenal function in ARDS patients

Abstract

Objective To study the effect of Xuebijing injection on adrenal function in ARDS patients.Method From January 2008 to December 2008,a clinical study was conducted on consecutive adult patients with ARDS in intensive care unit(ICU),which were divided into control group and Xuebijing group,the patients in control group were treated following the routine therapy of ARDS.Based on routine therapy,Xuebijing injection was used,100 ml twice a day for 7 days in Xuebijing group.Every patients was given one shot of corticotrophin 250 μg intravenously,plasma contisol level was detected by radio-immunoassay before the injection(T0)and 30 minutes(T30)and 60 minutes(T60)after injection.And meanwhile the following parameters in the patients were recorded:Murray and Marshall score,IL-6.IL-10 in peripheral blood.Ralative adrenal insufficiency was defined as the diffenence between T0 and the highest value of T30 or T60(△Tmax)≤248.4 nmol/L.Result Marray score[(1.7±0.9)vs(1.9±0.6),P<0.05],Marshall score[(2.9±2.7)vs(6.3±4.1),P<0.01]and the plasma level of IL-6[(3.4±1.9)ng/L vs (8.9±10.2)ng/L,P<0.01],IL-10[(1.5±0.8)ng/L vs(4.2±4.8)ng/L,P<0.01]and the ratio of adrenal insufficiency in treatment group were lower than those of control group,while that △Tmax[(328.4±278.3)μmol/L vs (172.8±110.8)μmol/L]was higher than that of control group.Conclusion Xuebijing injection can decrease the ratio of adrenal insufficiency in patients with ARDS,improve organ function.
