Abstract

The preparation of morpholine complexes of manganese (II), cobalt (II), copper (II), zinc (II) and cadmium (II) halides is described. Infrared spectra in the rock salt region indicates that the morpholine is co-ordinated via the nitrogen and not the oxygen atom. Ultraviolet and visible reflectance spectra and the far i.r. spectra have been measured and indicate and essentially octahedral structure for the manganese (II) and cadmium (II) complexes, and a tetrahedral structure for the cobalt (II) and zinc (II) complexes. Possible metal-nitrogen (350–310 cm −1) and metal-halogen modes have been assigned.
