Abstract

The purpose of the article is to review the com-bat activities of the 6th Orel Rifle Division during the Great Patriotic War. The author analyzes the participation of the unit in military operations during the liberation of Czechoslovakia. For this purpose, information from Combat Logs and other documents reflecting the contri-bution of the units of the division of the Bratisla-va-Brno offensive in April 1945 is systematized. The participation in the battle for Brno in the Jihlava-Benesov operation clearly demonstrates the combat capabilities of the unit, the profes-sional qualities of its command personnel and the ability to use tactical techniques of modern combined action. As a result, the author concludes that the ac-tivities of one of the most successful offensive operations of the Red Army during the liberation of Central European countries from Nazism are very important for modern historical science.
