Abstract

Objective To observe the short-term curative effect and safety of endogenetic field thermotherapy combined with intrathoracic injection of lentinan and cisplatin for malignant pleural effusion. Methods 57 cases of malignant pleural effusion were randomly divided into observation group and control group. All patients were treated with central venous catheter pleural puncture closed drainage. In control group, lentinan and cisplatin which were diluted respectively with physiological saline were injected into the pleural cavity,1-2 times per week,a total of 3-4 weeks; endogenetic field thermotherapy was added in observation group,2 times per week,a total of 3-4 weeks. Results The complete response rate of observation group was 34.5%(10/29),the partial response rate was 55.2%(16/29),and the overall response rate was 89.7%; the complete response rate of control group was 21.4%(6/28),the partial response rate was 46.4%(13/28),and the overall response rate was 67.9%.The difference between two groups was significant (P < 0.05).Conclusions Endogenetic field thermotherapy combined with intrathoracic injection of lentinan and cisplatin can improve effective rate of malignant pleural effusion and the quality of life, which is better than using intrathoracic injection therapy only. Key words: Malignant pleural effusion; Thoracic cavity closed drainage; Endogenetic field thermotherapy; Lentinan; Cisplatin
