Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and side effects of the treatment using central venous catheter insertion drainage and the intrapleural administration of staphyloccal enterotoxin C injection plus low dose cisplatin for malignant pleural effusion.Methods Sixty-four patients were randomly divided into two groups.Test group 32 cases:staphyloccal enterotoxin C injection 20 ml combined with cisplatin 20 mg were infused into the thoracic cavity;control group (32 cases):bleomycin 60 mg were infused into the thoracic cavity.Results There was not statistical difference in the total response rate of pleural control and Karnofsky score between two groups(P>0.05).The side effects in test group were less than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Placement of central venous catheter for drainage and intrapleural administration of staphyloccal enterotoxin C injection plus low dose cisplatin is effective for malignant pleural effusion,and the side effects less.
