Abstract

The new Employee Polygraph Protection Act severely restricts employer rights to use the "lie detector" or other devices for determining employee honesty. Some polygraph uses are still permitted, but they require significant changes in testing procedures. Most hospitality operators will now be looking for alternatives to polygraph testing, such as written honesty tests or expanded use of reference- and application-checking.
