Abstract

Methods have been developed for the detection and quantitative analysis of secondary crystals from scanning calorimetry in data. It is shown that secondary crystals differ from those formed during primary crystallization. Two types of crystals are observed in linear flexible polymers, irrespective of the kinetic and other crystallization characteristics. The secondary crystals are classified as fringed micelles. A new model of the crystalline state of linear unstrained flexible polymers is proposed.
