Abstract
The results of investigation of a brook located in the recreational area of Kiev are presented. Species composition, taxonomical structure, abundance, ecological and biological characteristics of algae were found on the bottom of the watercourse and analyzed. Eighty-six species of algae represented by 94 infraspecific taxa (including those containing the nomenclatural type of the species) were discovered; identified algae belong to 5 divisions, 8 classes, 10 orders, 28 families, and 41 genera. The trophy-saprobiological status of the water body is defined by terms of the abundance of the microphytobenthos and the index of saprobity. The main role in the formation of structural and quantitative characteristics of the microphytobenthos belongs to Bacillariophyta.
