Abstract

It is desirable to have an analytical flow field across an interface for grid convergence analysis of an interface method in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). For this purpose, we propose a method to manufacture an artificial incompressible viscous flow field across a static interface. The velocity is divergence free and satisfies the no-slip no-penetration boundary conditions at the interface. The pressure is manufactured independently of the velocity and can be continuous or discontinuous across the interface. A forcing term is used to balance the momentum in the Navier-Stokes equations.
