Abstract
The mechanical properties of glassy PETP, previously stretched in an adsorption-active medium, have been studied. The process of polymer shrinkage after extension is accompanied by the formation of a physically coagulating network, whose tensile strength increases with time. As a result of this, a second flow limit is observed on the repeated PETP stretching curves, the value of which depends on time elapsed after the first stretching cycle. It is shown that the influence of liquid media on the mechanical properties of PETP is related mainly to their adsorption properties.
