Abstract

Several studies have been done concerning the length of light paths in turbid materials [1]..[4]. Most of these studies deal with propagation of short pulses through the medium, requiring the use of pulsed lasers. In [2] the length of light paths was determined for the case of transmission of (collimated) light through a turbid suspension, using relatively simple equipment and added quantities of absorber. We used a technique based upon adding absorber to determine the mean length of light paths in the case of volume reflection in a turbid medium, as a function of distance to the point of illumination.
