Abstract

Brueckner-Hartree-Fock calculations are done treating the Pauli operator in the self-consistent basis. In addition the rearrangement terms coming out of a variational principle are also studied. The self-consistent Pauli operator decreases the absolute value of the single particle energies by about 10% and the rearrangement term decreases the single particle energy further by 12–20% for 40Ca assuming an average energy denominator. The total decrease in the peak of the charge density distribution is about 15%. The Yale force was used for the numerical calculations.
