Abstract

Objective To investigate the influence of letrozole (LE) administration upon the outcome of in vitro fertilization - embryo transfer (IVF-ET) with CC/Gn protocol in patients with poor ovarian reserve. Methods 273 patients with poor ovarian reserve undergoing 323 IVF-ET cycles with CC/Gn protocol were analyzed retrospectively. According to administration of LE, they were divided into Group LE and Group non-LE. Results The level of hormone and count of follicles on the day of starting, the count of oocytes retrieved, the count/rate of normal fertility, available embryo, and high-quality embryo were not significantly different between the two groups (P>0.05). E2, P on the day of HCG, the days and total amount of Gn in Group non-LE were significantly higher than those in Group LE (P 0.05), but chemical pregnancy rate in Group LE was significantly higher than that in Group non-LE (P<0.05). Conclusion The administration of LE in patients with poor ovarian reserve of IVF-ET with CC/Gn protocol can contribute to reduce the total amount and days of Gn and improve the efficiency of Gn, with higher chemical pregnancy rate. Key words: In vitro fertilization - embryo transfer; Letrozole; Poor ovarian reserve
