Abstract
Summary Daily oral administration of Dilantin to rabbits for 30 days resulted in a significant reduction of aortic concentrations of cholesterol and phospholipids, and an increase in triglyceride concentration. On the other hand, no significant changes in concentrations of these lipids were noted in the liver and plasma. Daily oral administration of Dilantin to rabbits receiving an atherogenic diet for periods up to 135 days resulted in an acceleration in the development of atherosclerosis in these rabbits.
