Abstract

The influence of academic capitalism on the formation of innovative development in the eld of higher education and science is crucial for the implementation of real transformational changes to create a “knowledge society” in Ukraine.The causal links between the emergence of academic capitalism are considered; innovative university entrepreneurship; commercialization of R&D results of universities and research institutions; the impact of academic entrepreneurship on local and regional innovative socioeconomic development, GDP growth, GNI, increasing the level of competitiveness of the national economy. The directions of further innovative development of higher education and science in the conditions of academic capitalism are outlined.The role of the state in the management of innovation in the eld of higher education and science in the context of academic capitalism is analyzed. The importance of introducing in Ukraine the institute of state (budget) and private (independent) project nancing in the eld of higher education, the organization of state support for cooperation between universities and industry.The authors consider innovative transformations in higher education and science as objectively conditioned transformational changes caused by the environment of academic capitalism. The core of the study is academic or university entrepreneurship, which is based on market relations, spread by academic capitalism in the eld of scientic and educational activities of higher education institutions, research institutions, and other organizations in this eld. An important basis of scientic work is the application in national conditions of the theory of the triple helix G. Itzkowitz’s innovative development of society. The scientic novelty is that the authors: studied the world experience of innovative changes in higher education and science that occur in the environment of academic capitalism; formulated and proposed theoretical data for new approaches in understanding innovative transformations in the eld of higher education and science, which are economic categories and occur following market laws; proposed approaches for further innovative reform of higher education and science in the context of academic capitalism.
