Abstract
EARLIER studies showed the existence of a temperature-concentration range of formation and decomposition of the supermolecular order (SMO) in aqueous solutions of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) [1, 2] These SMO changes showed features which were identical with the crystallization and melting of macromolecular systems in the presence of a low molecular weight (mol wt ) component. Bearing this m mind, it was decided to study how the SMO formed in aqueous PVA solutions, using the principles employed to study the crystallization of polymers from their solutions [3]. A series of experiments is conducted m this study to clarify whether a correlation exists between the temperature of SMO formation (the crystallization temperature----Tcr ) and that of melting (Tin). Furthermore, we compared the progress of SMO formation in time under conditions of heterogeneous and homogeneous crystallization centres formation
