The Flourishing of Intellectual Life and Ethnic Culture of the Azerbaidzhan People

Abstract

One of the most important achievements of the multi-ethnic Soviet people, the first in history to have constructed a mature socialist society, is the creation of an all-round developed socialist culture that has assimilated the highest achievements of world civilization. The resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU entitled "The 60th Anniversary of the Formation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics" says: "The formation of the USSR, the establishment of relations of friendship, trust, and mutual aid among peoples gave a gigantic boost to the intellectual development of the society born of the great October. Socialism has been able to resolve a problem of truly historical significance: to endow the many millions of working people with the achievements of culture, and to lay open all the sources of knowledge to every human being regardless of his social status and nationality. Broad possibilities have been created in this country to give expression to talents and special gifts, to the flourishing of the culture of all nations and nationalities, and the creative activity of masses in science and art."1
