Abstract

The cooling water consumption accounts for 80% of total industrial water consumption. The cooling water need be used more reasonably, while waste of water resources may be reduced by minimizing water losses and recycling these resources. It is hard to collect condensate due to the low yield, but there are major advantages. An integrated service building of Beijing is employed as the example, condensate yield and water-saving amount are calculated according to central air conditioning systems and fan coil units. In addition, the feasibility of supplying condensate from air conditioners to cooling towers is comprehensively analyzed based on construction budgets. Results suggest that it is energy-efficient and feasible to recycle and reuse the condensate, which is a by-product of central air-conditioners.
