Abstract

The partition of uranium(VI) between sulphuric acid solutions and solutions of tri-n-octylamine (TOA) in benzene has been investigated at varying concentrations of sulphuric acid, solvent and uranium and at different temperatures. The extraction of sulphuric acid and the water content of the organic phase have also been examined, and infra-red spectral studies made of the organic solutions. The mechanism of uranium extraction is discussed on the basis of the results obtained.
