Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression level of AFP-IgM in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).Methods The serum AFP-IgM concentrations were detected by ELISA in 79 HCC patients,20 patients affected by liver cirrhosis and 30 healthy controls. Results AFP-IgM concentrations in serum and the positive rate were significantly higher in HCC than that in liver cirrhosis and in healthy controls(P<0.01).The positive rates of AFP-IgM in the stage Ⅰ or Ⅱ(89%,88%)were higher than that of the stage Ⅲ(30%,P<0.05).The serum concentration of AFP-IgM is related to the stage, tumor sizes. Conclusion AFP-IgM was of significance for early diagnosis of HCC,it will hopefully be a useful biological marker for the diagnosis of HCC.
