Abstract

This article focuses on violence against women, a recurring and global phenomenon. It highlights the sociocultural roots of gender violence and investigates the trajectory of protective measures adopted along with preventative measures in Europe. Specific attention is paid to the Italian legal system on which regulations have recently been promulgated as a response to the high number of cases involving violence against women. The paper approaches the topic following a qualitative methodology based on bibliographic and documentary research, as well as on data collection from international organizations, published on the Internet.
